New
GTA Membership Benefit
|
The
GTA has recently enhanced its Member Benefits by
entering into an agreement with the Associated
Technologies Council, a not-for-profit company
formed to provide common basic services to its
members to focus on their core business. ATC
membership initiation fees are waived for GTA
members. GTA members now have access to discounted
business services, including Payroll Services, HR
Consulting Services, Employee Benefit Insurance
Products, Benefit Administration Services
(Consolidated Billing, COBRA/State Continuation,
etc.), and Qualified Retirement Plan
Administration. (Note: Some medical products are
restricted to companies with two or more employees
and by industry
classification.) 18
Month Rate Guarantee! It was just announced
that one of the insurers of the group medical
plans is offering, for those companies that
qualify, a rate guarantee of up to eighteen months

GTA Welcomes New Board
Members
|
Three
new members joined the GTA Board in May. Welcome
and thank you to Steve Davis with Davis Wright
Tremaine, Jane Beatty with Custom Interface and
Mike Brinster with Providence Memorial Hospital.
These individuals join the eight existing Board
members to guide the organization.

Meeting June 22 The
Leading Edge of Technology in Digital Animation
|
Join the GTA for the third event in
our Google Speakers Series on the leading edge of
technology. Ever wonder how digital animators work
to create the movie, television and gaming
animation we love? Come listen asHinge Digital explains the
present and future of digital animation. Based in
Portland, Hinge Digital specializes in the
creation of 3D digital content. Their principals
have produced animation for such companies as
M&Ms, Microsoft, Honda and the UN and worked
previously for Laika and Sony Imageworks. An

Silverwing: Jobshadowing for Oregon's National
Guardsmen Kickoff Event June 4, 7:30-9:00
a.m.
|
Join
Governor
Kulongoski, Senator's Wyden and Merkley and the
top ONG Generals June 4th at the Air
National Guard Base to learn more about how your
business can help support returning troops with
Job Shadowing and Mentorship.
As you may
know, 2700 troops just returned home and 51% are
unemployed. The Job Shadow/Mentor program offers
the guardsmen exposure to possible new careers
based on their interests and skill sets. Operation
Silverwing asks Oregon businesses to provide 1 day
(whether it's 1 soldier a week/month) to a soldier
to 'shadow' an individual within your
corporation/organization, providing insight to
possible career tracks they are interested in.

Centers, Washington Technology Center, and
Sirti present this seminar, based on
Foresight Science & Technology's instruction
to SBIR awardees.
This seminar is an overview of the process of
commercialization including how to determine entry
markets, find customers, develop a
commercialization strategy, find commercialization
partners and funding, value your technology,
determine royalty rates, develop a term sheet and
conduct negotiations.
A basic and advanced session will
be offered on each date. Cost is $25 per session.

Challenge: Bring Your Ideas to the Market
Faster |
The
US Dept of Commerce Office of Innovation and
Entrepreneurship announced the i6 Challenge, a $12
million innovation competition. The EDA will award
up to $1 million to each of six winning teams with
the most innovative ideas to drive technology
commercialization and entrepreneurship in their
regions. The NIH and NSF will award up to $6
million in supplemental funding to their SBIR
grantees that are associated or partnered with the
winning teams. Entrepreneurs, investors,
universities, foundations, and non-profits are
encouraged to participate. The deadline for
applications is
July 15, 2010.
