Research
Funding Available Washington
Technology Center
|
Are you working on innovative technology
applications with near-term commercial potential?
The Washington Technology Center offers grants to
offset the costs of your R&D.
If you
are a Washington technology business looking to
partner with an academic or non-profit researcher
on a collaborative research endeavor, you may be
eligible for a funding award through Washington
Technology Center's Research & Technology
Development (RTD) grants program.
RTD awards pay up to 80% of the cost of
research projects -- allowing you to channel your
capital to other business growth needs or continue
working on breakthrough scientific discoveries.
Project teams are eligible to receive up to
$100,000 for initial proof-of-concept projects and
up to $300,000 total for multi-phase
projects.
Washington Technology Center is now accepting
proposals for its next round of grants which will
be awarded in December, 2009. Projects begin
January 1, 2010. Notice of Intent deadline is
September
24 and applications are due October

Meeting, Sept. 22: Mobile Broadband
-Entering the 4G Decade
|
Today's wireless networks and technologies
are the culmination of massive innovation and
investment and represent some of humanity's
greatest achievements. However, this is only the
beginning of a new era of computing and
communications that will be enabled by new
wireless technologies such as WiMAX and Long Term
Evolution (LTE), and that will lead to a wealth of
new mobile platforms and applications. The
presentation will cover: broadband developments in
general; bandwidth requirements of different
applications; latest Wi-Fi developments; an
overview of current cellular networks; definitions
of first generation to fourth generation (4G)
technologies; technology evolution over the next
five years; network architectures; capabilities as
well as limitations; fixed-mobile convergence;
femtocells; mobile platform developments including
smartphones, netbooks and smartbooks; and
applications best suited for wireless.
Peter Rysavy is the president of Rysavy
Research LLC, a consulting firm that has
specialized in wireless technology since 1993.
Projects have included analysis of technology
capabilities, strategic consultations, system
design, white papers, articles, courses and
Webcasts, network performance measurement and test
reports. Rysavy Research LLC moved operations to
Hood River in 1998. Details:
