Board
Vacancy: Have you been wondering how to get
more involved with the GTA? We currently have a
Board Vacancy to fill immediately. We also have
other non-Board opportunities for involvement.
Sign-Up
for GTA Loaner Robotics Kits: The GTA has
Lego robotics kits and laptops for loan to schools
and youth groups. We're currently scheduling them
for Spring 2010.
GTA
at the Job Fair: The GTA will have a table
at the Gorge Job Fair on April 10. GTA Members,

Education Events Seeking Businesses: Two
Gorge schools are putting on events to spark
students' interest in science and engineering and
are looking for businesses willing to share what
they do. Hood River Middle School's Tech Fair is
April 9; Tech Discovery Days at Discovery High
School in The Dalles is May 22. Come inspire the
future workforce!

official launch with the Blue Collar Creative Open
House: a contest to award an Oregon company a
$20,000 service package. To enter,
Oregon-based businesses and organizations must
submit a 400-word essay on their Oregon roots,
core values, commitment community, and why their
project deserves our agency services through January
29th. The BC partners will review
all submitted essays, choosing the top three,
which will be posted for voting by the general

Businesses interested in presenting their
idea for $100,000 in angel investment at the 2010
Gorge Angel Conference must apply by February 27,
2010. The conference will be April 27 at the Hood
River Inn. Companies must have good growth
and profit potential, be located in the
Gorge and should be seeking capital within the
range of $100,000 to $1,000,000. Click

R&D
Grants for Tech Businesses in
Washington
|
If you are a Washington technology business
looking to partner with an academic or non-profit
researcher on a collaborative research endeavor,
you may be eligible for a funding award through
Washington Technology Center's Research &
Technology Development (RTD) grants program.
RTD awards pay up to 80% of the cost of
research projects -- allowing you to channel your
capital to other business growth needs or continue
working on breakthrough scientific discoveries.
Project teams are eligible to receive up to
$100,000 for initial proof-of-concept projects and
up to $300,000 total for multi-phase
projects.
Washington Technology Center is now accepting
proposals for its next round of grants: the Notice of Intent
deadline is March 18 and applications are due
April 22. Grants are awarded in June 2010
and projects begin July 1, 2010.
