GTA Member News: Cloud
Cap Offers Next-Generation Camera
Gimbal for Helicopters As reported in the Gorge Business
Review
|
Cloud
Cap Technology has produced the next generation of
surveillance cameras for helicopters with a
low-cost family of stabilized surveillance camera
gimbals. The TASE gimbal system consists of a
lightweight stabilized camera gimbal, software and
a FAA-approved mount for the aircraft. The system
collects video during flight that can be displayed
in real-time in the cockpit, reducing pilot
workload, enhancing safety and reducing costs;
images are also recorded for future
playback.
"Images are recorded and
synchronized with GPS image position, so precise
pinpointing for follow-up happens automatically.
We anticipate a great demand for this affordable
system to enhance a myriad of commercial and
military helicopter missions including
infrastructure inspection, forestry and coastline
surveillance, firefighting and border patrol,"
said Mark Zanmiller, director of business
development for Cloud Cap Technology.
Commercial customers for the new TASE
system range from energy companies that use it for
gas pipeline inspection to local law enforcement
officials who use it to track potential criminals
and support police officers on the ground.
Cloud Cap
Technology has been a GTA Member since 2007. Cloud
Cap was acquired by Goodrich Corporation in May,
2009.

The Software Association of Oregon is
partnering with the City of Portland, Metro,
Multnomah County, Tri-Met and others on a software
application design contest called Civic Apps for
Greater Portland. The CivicApps Challenge is a

the community, and begin to build a community to

everyone. The Challenge includes two
distinct phases: 1) An Ideas Challenge that
culminates in 2) an Apps Challenge. The Ideas
Challenge round collects ideas and recognizes the
best ideas at the launch of the Apps Challenge.
The Apps Challenge includes two rounds (Apr 19,
